TRAVEL TO THESSALONIKI

By Plane

A large number of major international airlines offer scheduled services directly to "MAKEDONIA" airport of Thessaloniki or via Athens Eleftherios Venizelou airport.

There are also many low-cost charter flights operating from European cities directly to Thessaloniki.

An alternative option is to use low-cost flights operating to Athens and connect by train to Thessaloniki.

Participants are strongly recommended to book air travel as early as possible as Greece is a popular tourist destination.

By Car

Those wishing to drive to Greece may either ferry their cars across to one of the country's major ports or enter the country overland. The points of entry are Evzoni, Niki (FYR of Macedonia) Promahonas (Bulgaria), Kastania and Kipi (Turkey). All five border stations mentioned above operate on a 24 hour service basis.

By Sea

Services operate to several ports in Greece such as Piraeus, Patras and Igoumenitsa.

By Rail

International services operate to the main railway station of Thessaloniki, situated in the downtown area.

 

PASSPORT AND VISA

The entry formalities for Greece vary according to the country of origin. Please address questions concerning entry requirements to your local travel agent, Greek Embassy or Consulate. ARRIVAL IN THESSALONIKI

Thessaloniki's Macedonia airport is situated 15 kms to the east of the city. You can get a taxi from the airport to the downtown area. This will take about 25 minutes and cost about 20 Euros. A bus service (number 78) also operates from the airport to the downtown area. Taxis are also available at the railway station, at taxi ranks all over town, and may be easily flagged down in the street.

HOTELS

Topline Travel and Tours has secured hotel accommodation for participants at special symposium rates at a variety of 2, 3, 4 and 5 Star hotels in Thessaloniki.

In order to take advantage of these special rates, reservations should be made directly with Topline Travel and Tours, using Hotel and Tours Booking Form D before 1 st August 2008.

Rates are in Euros per room per night and include service charge, tax and breakfast.
