19th February 2008, Fez, Morocco

This workshop was organised by SPI-Water, which is an EC research project (FP6) in the context of Specific Support to Policies, aiming to enhance the interfacing between science and policy with respect to the Water Framework Directive (WFD) implementation. INWEB coordinator Prof. J. Ganoulis attended the meeting. The main objectives of the workshop were to discuss issues and options relevant to the science-policy interface and its effectiveness in ensuring transfer of research results to the policy area; to identify possible mechanisms that could be put in place for enhancing the effectiveness of this interface and effectively support IWRM; to identify the constraints for developing these mechanisms in the Morocan and Lebanese context, and to discuss factors that would lead to sucessful strengthening of the science-policy interface in the field of IWRM in these countries.
