IAHR's 29th international congress was held from 16th - 21st September 2001 in Beijing, China, and hosted by the Chinese Hydraulic Engineering Society (CHES). The central theme of "21st Century: The New Era for Hydraulic Research and its Applications" encompassed broad aspects of hydraulics, water resources and disasters, ecological and environmental science and research and engineering applications.
