23rd-25th June 2010, Athens, Greece

The International Symposium on Environmental Hydraulics (6th ISEH), was held in Athens, Greece, from 23rd-25th June 2010.  It was sponsored by the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) and is considered as a major event bringing together engineers and scientists working on a variety of fundamental problems related to the water environment.

The field of Environmental Hydraulics has expanded considerably over the last two decades, because of the growing concern over water environmental issues associated with pollution and water balance problems on a regional and global scale, which require a thorough understanding of processes related to environmental flows and transport phenomena and the development of new approaches for practical solutions.

The 6th ISEH aimed at addressing these challenges by drawing contributions describing  original research and / or original applications of up–to–date theoretical, computational or experimental tools.

UNESCO Chair coordinator, Prof. J. Ganoulis, presented his work on “Integrating hydraulic, hydrology and environmental economy models for the protection and sustainable use of transboundary water resources.”
